»SB Gunning For Top 10 On 2011 Forbes’ ‘Hip-Hop Cash Kings’
»Posted on August 22nd, 2010 • By: • Filed In interviewnews

We just finished another edition of “RapFix Live,” and this week’s guest was hip-hop phenomenon Soulja Boy Tell’em. While we touched on everything from him working with Gucci Mane to his thoughts on Justin’s Bieber’s YouTube domination, one of the subjects I didn’t get a chance to talk to him about on-camera was being included in Forbes’ 2010 “Hip-Hop Cash Kings” list. He came in at #18, so I had to get in his ear and ask him what that felt like.

The “Pretty Boy Swag” MC was practically blushing with excitement as he explained that his ‘hood and everybody in his hometown is really proud of him. They already hold him in high regard, and this latest news only adds to that.

Soulja Boy wasn’t entirely sure how Forbes determines the final tally for an artist’s annual earnings, but seeing his name at #18 only makes him want to improve upon that number next year, he said. He’s gunning for #7, but definitely the top 10. Forbes reported that the rapper took in $7 mil, a number SB said was not exactly right, but really close.

He went on to reveal how planned to accomplish that goal, a strategy that includes releasing his album, The DeAndre Way, going on tour and then dropping his book. Soulja Boy said he plans to follow the lead of other rappers and get into acting and movies. So I asked if he’d read a script yet. Turns out he’s been reading a bunch of scripts.

Considering he’s only 20 years old, the kid seems to have a pretty impressive plan. You know he beat out a lot of heavyweights to make that Forbes list, and dude has his head on straight. That’s what I gathered from sitting with him.

And now I can’t wait for his book to come out. I’m going to read “Teenage Millionaire” as if I was a teen; get some tips and see what I can make happen…

»Soulja Boy Says He Made More Money Than Forbes Reported
»Posted on August 20th, 2010 • By: • Filed In informationnews

Soulja Boy’s pretty boy swag has apparently earned him more money than Forbes gave him credit for.

As previously reported, SB is featured on Hip-Hop Cash Kings, Forbes’ annual list of rap’s top money makers. According to Forbes, Soulja made $6 million in the past year, placing him in the no. 16 slot and tied with T-Pain. But to let SB tell it, the reports are a bit off.

“I made more than $7 million,” he told BET.com. “I’m sure I made more money than some people on the list. I’m blessed and grateful to even be on the list ’cause I’ve been in the game since I was 17. I’m 20 now and I’m on a list with people who’ve been in the game for years.”

As previously reported, Jay-Z came in at no. 1 with $63 million, Diddy at no. 2 with $30 million, Akon took the no. 3 spot with $21 million, Lil Wayne ranked fourth with $20 million and Dr. Dre rounded out the Top 5 with $17 million.

»Soulja Boy Wants To Make A Movie Of His Life
»Posted on August 16th, 2010 • By: • Filed In informationmedianews

Teen-rapper Soulja Boy has just announced plans to hook up with actor/rapper (and Mr Mariah Carey) Nick Cannon for an upcoming film.

The Pretty Boy Swag hit-maker wants to make a run at Hollywood, and feels that his life story is worthy of a big screen release.

He told MTV News US: “Me and Nick Cannon have been talking back and forth for, like, the last year about a movie idea. I did a movie with him earlier this year with Justin Bieber called School Gyrls and it went straight to Nickelodeon.

“It was a good movie, but it was mostly for kids. We were talking back and forth, and he wants me to star in a movie that he wrote when he was, like, 17.

I want people to know my story. Because a lot of people know Soulja Boy and know my songs, but a lot of people don’t know where I’m from or where I came from, how I did it.

“A lot of people do know, but a movie would paint the picture so much better. I wanna do a movie that’s my story, my legacy; what got me here and why I’m still here.”

»SOULJA BOY ON LEBRON JAMES’ MIAMI MOVE
»Posted on August 10th, 2010 • By: • Filed In interviewmedia

“I like Kobe [Bryant],” Soulja Boy said in an interview with DJ Whoo Kid. “My whole take on this is it’s 2010, I’ve done seen it all because this sh*t is going down. I ain’t really too much surprised to see anything anymore. This n*gga LeBron gotta Miami [Heat] jersey on. Like for real though, smiling harder than a motherf*cker. The only thing you can do to define that is it’s 2010. Just like when I came out with the ‘Superman,’ n*ggas were like, ‘What the f*ck is going on?,’ it’s 2007. Last year, Drake came out singing harder than a motherf*cker, n*ggas looking around like, it’s 2009. Every year, something happens so I ain’t surprised.”
